Siliguri, 12th February: Sensation ensued after a vehicle coming from Kalimpong towards Siliguri met with a tragic road accident. Reportedly, on Sunday afternoon the vehicle heading from Kalimpong went rampant and hit the tree.
The ill-fated incident claimed the lives of three people, including a woman, while two sustained serious injuries. As per the police sources, today vehicle number bearing 74BL 4020 was coming to Siliguri from Kalimpong. There were a total of five people in the said vehicle, in which there was a woman. But tragedy struck in mid-way when the said vehicle went out of control and overturned in the nearby forest, hitting a big tree near Bengal Safari.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, the local people and the Bhakti Nagar traffic guard reached the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to the nursing home. The body of the deceased including the woman has been sent to Siliguri District Hospital. Police have taken the casualty vehicle in their possession and are further probing the entire matter.
