Three-day bird festival commences today at Mahananda Sanctuary

Siliguri, 20th February: A three-day bird festival has started at Mahananda Sanctuary from today. The festival will run from 20 to 23 February.


Mahananda Sanctuary, which has more than 300 different species of birds has been included as an “important bird zone” for playing a significant role in the conservation of birds and their habitat.

Meanwhile, a large number of tourists are also reaching the sanctuary to see various wild birds and animals.


Chief Wildlife Warden Vinod Kumar Yadav said that, like the Buxa Tiger Reserve, a bird festival is being organized at Mahananda Sanctuary for the first time.

During the festival, participants of the three-day program will be given various information regarding the Mahananda Sanctuary. Also, the Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) Rajendra Jakhar announced that a total of 70 participants are participating in the festival through online medium.
