Siliguri, 06th December: Plainclothes police from Pradhan Nagar police station have arrested three accused in connection with the theft of an expensive camera from a wedding ceremony.
The arrested persons have been identified as Pitambar Lohar, Vikas Munda and Suraj Oraon, all residents of the Raipur Tea Garden area in Jalpaiguri.
According to police sources, the three were working as catering staff at wedding functions. Last Thursday, they reached a hotel in the Champasari area in Siliguri posing as caterers during a wedding ceremony. Taking advantage of the situation, they allegedly stole a camera belonging to Assam-based videographer Deepak Gupta.
The stolen camera, worth around ₹4 lakh, also contained important wedding videos and photographs. Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at the Pradhan Nagar police station. Acting swiftly, the police arrested all three accused on Friday and recovered the stolen camera after interrogation.
The arrested accused were produced before the Siliguri court on Saturday. Police said further investigation into the case is ongoing.
