Siliguri, 28th August: ‘Amader Udyog’, a voluntary organisation, took a unique initiative on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan by organising a tree plantation drive in Ward No. 40 under the Siliguri Municipal Corporation on Friday.
Members of the organisation planted saplings at different locations as part of the programme. They also symbolically tied rakhis to the trees to spread awareness about environmental protection.
Through the gesture of pledging to protect trees as they would their own loved ones, the organisation conveyed the message, “Do not cut trees, save trees.”
Members of the organisation said such initiatives would continue in the coming days to help maintain environmental balance and promote greenery.
