Theft worth lakhs in a vacant residence in Siliguri

Siliguri, 13th December: An incident of theft surfaced from the Dakshin Shanti Nagar area of Dabgram-II, adjacent to Siliguri, where miscreants made way after looting cash and jewelry in a vacant residence.


According to reports, house owner Debashish Dutta and his wife Vishaka Dutta were on a visit to Tarapith. During this, miscreants took advantage of the situation and entered the house by breaking the window, broke the cupboard locker, and made off with Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand in cash and gold jewelry worth lakhs of rupees.

Later, as the owner returned home on Wednesday morning, they spotted the household items scattered and valuables missing. Subsequently, the matter was informed to New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police station. Upon receiving the news, the police arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation into the entire incident.
