Theft in jewelry shop at Mathabhanga, police engaged in investigation

Cooch Behar, 05th May: An incident of theft surfaced from Mathabhanga Block No. 2, Ramthenga Bazaar area in Cooch Behar, where gold and silver stored in a bag at a jewelry shop went missing.


According to sources, the store is owned by Raju Das, who resides in the Ramthenga Bazaar area. This morning, Raju opened his jewelry shop and went to fetch water from a tap installed at the market to offer prayers. Upon returning, he noticed that a bag containing gold and silver was missing. He immediately reported the matter to the Ghoskdanga police station, who swiftly arrived on the scene and began investigating the matter.

The owner alleged that the stolen jewelry amounts to approximately Rs 2 lakh. The secretary of the business committee in the area stated that they intend to install CCTV cameras in the market and have demanded active police patrolling in the vicinity.
