Tension ensued in front of MLA’s residence in Kumargram due to TMC’s sit-in protest

Alipurduar, 29th January: TMC has been protesting for three days in front of the houses of BJP MPs and MLAs across the district on the issue of PF of tea workers. Due to the protest of Trinamool, tension surfaced in Alipurduar’s Kumargram today.

Reportedly, MLA Manoj objected to the amplified sound from the mic being played at the protest stage of Trinamool Congress this morning. At that time, a number of people had gathered at the MLA’s house to listen to the Prime Minister’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. After that, a mic was installed in the MLA’s residence to listen to the PM’s program. However, the IC of Kumaragram police station ordered to switch off the mic, but the MLA demanded that the mic of the TMC’s protest forum be switched off first which ultimately escalated a tiff between the IC and the MLA regarding the said matter.

The MLA gave an hour to the IC to switch off the mic of the TMC protest. MLA Manoj warned of taking further action regarding the same. Meanwhile, on behalf of TMC, they said that they were conducting the said program as per the instructions of the state leadership. They further warned of protesting in front of MLA’s residence if the demands of common people are not accepted.
