Teesta River wrecks havoc leaving residents of Teesta Bazar area in distress

Siliguri, 05th October: The residents of the Teesta Bazar area are distressed due to the extensive destruction brought on by the flash flood in the Teesta River. Following a cloudburst-induced flash flood in Sikkim on Tuesday, several homes and businesses were destroyed.

It has to be noted that the occupants were unable to salvage their possessions since the region was submerged due to the abrupt rise in water levels.

According to reports, a number of locals sought refuge at a relief camp that was established adjacent to Teesta Bazar. As a result, the victims are concerned for their families’ future. The flood has engulfed the livelihoods of the locals in the area. In addition, several vehicles have been washed away and buildings have been covered in debris. Efforts are underway as the residents await restoration to normalcy.
