Phansidewa, 16th April: A tragic incident unfolded where a school student lost his life after being hit by a tractor in Khuti Para of Gangaram Tea Estate in Phansidewa.
As per reports, on Tuesday morning, two brothers were on their way to school on bicycle when they were hit by a stone-laden tractor, loaded from Tipu River. Consequently, one of the brothers died on the spot, while the other was severely injured.
After the incident, the cops of Bagdogra police station arrived at the spot. During this, the agitated locals allegedly surrounded the police and expressed their resentment by a protest. The locals alleged that such incidents are occurring during illegal extraction of sand from the river. Currently, the police are engaged in a detailed investigation of the matter.
