Student falls prey to phone call scam in Alipurduar

Alipurdiar, 11th June: A student lost Rs 30,674 after falling prey to a phone call scam, on Thursday. The incident surfaced from the Pororpar gram panchayat of Alipurduar.


As per the report, Sunita Barman, a college student, received a phone call from an unknown number posing to the call from the State Bank of India (SBI) and informed that her ATM card had been blocked. For card renewal, she was asked for the card and CVV number, which she provided over the phone. Shortly afterwards, around Rs 30,674 was deducted from Sunita’s account.

A written complaint has been lodged at the Alipurduar Cyber ​​Cell. Based on the complaint, an investigation has been launched into the incident.
