Stolen wood recovered in Siliguri, NJP Police arrest two

Siliguri, 31st December: NJP Police recovered a huge quantity of stolen teak wood and arrested two people in connection to the matter. The accused have been identified as Sabbir Hussain and Mohammad Nassar.


Reportedly, the police received a tip-off regarding the stolen wood that was being taken to Kolkata via Jotiyakali in Fulbari. Acting promptly, the police launched a campaign at the Jotiyakali area on Thursday afternoon and detained a truck. During the search, a huge quantity of teak wood was recovered from the vehicle. The value of the recovered wood is said to be around Rs 50 lakh.

According to police sources, the smugglers were transporting the said woods from Assam to Kolkata. The accused were produced in the Jalpaiguri court today.
