STF arrest three with over 2 kg of brown sugar in Siliguri

Siliguri, 14th March: Illicit narcotics worth crore of rupees were recovered in Siliguri, on Sunday. Three people including one woman were arrested in the incident. The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Safiqul Islam of Malda, Sher Bahadur Tamang from Nagaland, and Prabha Mallick.


The STF, acting on a tip-off, arrested the three peddlers outside NJP station and recovered 2 kg and 23 grams of brown sugar from their possession.

Reportedly, Tamang along with his associate Prabha Mallick reached NJP station on Rajdhani Express with the consignment. Meanwhile, Shafiqul arrived at the site to buy the drugs. STF after receiving a tip-off launched operations and nabbed the three red-handed.


According to STF sources, the market value of the recovered brown sugar is around Rs 10 crore. A case has been filed against the arrested individuals under the NDPS Act. They were sent to Jalpaiguri court on Monday.
