State government provides job to an Adivasi couple

Siliguri, 05th November: With the arrival of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Amit Shah in Bengal, Geeta Mahali has been assigned as a home guard by the state government.

It is to recall, the Home Minister, during his visit to Siliguri on April 25, 2017, had eaten launch at the house of an Adivasi couple named Raju Mahali and Geeta Mahali. Following which, Minister Goutam Deb also went to the couple’s house.

On Thursday, Geeta Mahali joined work at Naxalbari police station as a home guard. Darjeeling district Trinamool president Ranjan Sarkar arrived to meet the Mahali couple at their house.

Taking a jibe at Shah, he said that after Amit Shah had lunch at Geeta Mahali’s house, the BJP did not further inquire about their well being. However, keeping in mind their poor financial condition, CM Mamata Banerjee stepped forward and provided Geeta with a job. He stated that the CM is ready to help all poor families in the state.

On the other hand, Anand Barman, on behalf of BJP, described the initiative to be a mere political stunt. He said that the Home Minister went to their house for lunch as a courtesy. And during the course, the BJP party flag was not handed over to the couple unlike the TMC who handed over their party flag to Raju Mahali and Geeta Mahali.
