South Indian singing icon SP Balasubrahmanyam passes away at 74

The South Indian singing icon SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away today afternoon at the age of 74. The singer’s son made the announcement at the gates of the hospital and appreciated all those who prayed for the singer’s recovery.


The Padma Shri award-winning musician was diagnosed with COVID-19 in August. Reportedly, his condition deteriorated on 23 September and he was deemed extremely critical.

The veteran singer has sung over 40,000 songs and even got registered in the Guinness Book Of World Records for recording the highest number of songs by a singer. He has won six National Film Awards, 25 Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Awards. He has won several Kannada and Tamil Nadu State Awards. He has won Film Fare Award in Bollywood and six Film Fare Awards South.
