Social activist distributes ration to 350 families of closed Panighatta Tea Gardens

Panighatta/Mirik, 03rd April: In light of the coronavirus lockdown, ration was distributed among 350 families residing in and around the Panighatta Tea Gardens Area, Mirik.

The initiative was taken under the aegis of social activist Yokin Lamichaney of Kalimpong after he was made aware that the tea gardens around Panighatta have been closed for many years. People of the area depend upon daily wages and have been struggling to arrange even a single meal since the lockdown. Acting promptly upon the requests, Lamichaney distributed ration to sustain the poor for at least a week.
