Smuggling attempt foiled, liquor worth lakhs recovered in Phansidewa

Phansidewa, 4th May: In a significant breakthrough, the police thwarted a smuggling attempt after seizing liquor valued at lakhs of rupees concealed on the roof of a bus destined for Bihar, in Phansidewa.


Reportedly, acting on a tip-off on Friday night, the police conducted a search along the Ghoshpukur National Highway, leading to the discovery of the contraband on the Siliguri-Patna passenger bus.

The smugglers attempted to disguise the liquor by concealing it within bags filled with snacks. However, the vigilant officers from Ghoshpukur Outpost successfully intercepted the illegal cargo. Although no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, the officials have initiated an investigation by interrogating the bus’s driver and co-driver.


Sources revealed that the confiscated liquor was intended for smuggling purposes, destined for transportation to Bihar.
