Siliguri, 31st March: Siliguri Municipal Corporation has taken a new initiative where flowers and leaves used during Puja will be collected and used for producing fertilizers.
On Thursday morning, flowers and leaves were collected from Ward No. 15. Vehicles were arranged on behalf of SMC for this purpose. Mayor Goutam Deb inaugurated the programme in the presence of SMC chairman Pratul Chakraborty, Deputy Mayor, and Ward no-15 councilor Ranjan Sarkar.
It has been learned that the initiative has been launched in Ward No. 15 as of now. If successful, it will be undertaken in all the wards of the city in the coming days.
