SMC Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya met opposition leader Ranjan Sarkar on the last day of his 5-year long term

Siliguri, 16th May: It is to be noted that the term of Siliguri Municipality will come to an end on May 17, 2020. In this regard, Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya, on Saturday, visited various departments of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation and acknowledged all his colleagues and other officials. The Mayor also met opposition leader Ranjan Sarkar as well as the Councilors of other opposition parties.


Meanwhile, the city’s playwrights, sportsmen and members of various organizations felicitated the Mayor and the Mayor-in-Council members.


While addressing the media, Bhattacharya stated that despite all the differences, the Municipality successfully completed its five years. He thanked all his colleagues and the Municipality officials for their immense contribution during the past five years.

Meanwhile the Mayor also expressed outrage and accused the State government of carrying out duplicity while appointing an administrator in Siliguri. The Mayor also demanded an immediate reversal of the decision taken.
