SMC holds meeting to solve drinking water problem in Siliguri

Siliguri, 24th July: On Monday, Goutam Deb, the Mayor of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), held a significant meeting with officials from the Irrigation Department, Public Health Engineering (PHE), and Teesta Barrage Project. The primary focus of the meeting was to address the pressing issue of drinking water scarcity faced by the residents of Siliguri.


During the meeting, the officials discussed potential solutions to alleviate the drinking water problem. They also reviewed the progress of a major project initiated by the SMC to address the water shortage. Additionally, they engaged in a detailed discussion about further steps that can be taken to resolve the scarcity of drinking water in the city.

It is to be noted, the citizens of Siliguri have been distressed due to the ongoing drinking water scarcity for several days. In response to this, the said meeting was convened to find effective solutions. Following the meeting, Mayor Goutam Deb mentioned that a major water supply project has been initiated, which will require some time for completion. In the meantime, they are working on constructing a crucial small intake well, and the work for it has already commenced.
