Siliguri, 05th September: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has demolished a dangerously dilapidated building on Shivaji Road in Ward No. 08, Siliguri. The structure, approximately 80 years old, had been used as rental accommodations and commercial spaces.
Reportedly, despite multiple notices issued to the owner, Ramesh Aggarwal, over the past several months, the building remained in a hazardous state. The SMC had first issued a notice in December, followed by additional warnings, and a final notice was issued just days ago.
The demolition began Thursday morning under the supervision of police and SMC personnel. The building’s unsafe condition had prompted the decisive action to ensure safety.
