Siliguri, 10th February: The Uttarbanga Safai Karmachari Samity staged a rally in support of various demands including permanent jobs and salary hike.
As per the information, a 9-point memorandum was submitted at Siliguri Municipality Corporation in January on behalf of the organization. However, no solution has been made to date. Hence, the cleaning staff took to the streets today in this regard.
Kiran Rauth, president of the Uttarbanga Safai Karmachari Samity, said that if their demands are not met soon, the sanitation work of the city will discontinue from February 11. Continuous demonstrations will be staged until their demands are met, he further added.
