Siliguri, 18th July: Considering the demand of locals, Naya Bazar in Siliguri Ward No. 8 has been closed for 7 days.
Darjeeling District TMC President Ranjan Sarkar, on Saturday, addressed the problems being faced by the traders and the locals.
The locals had earlier staged demonstrations in the area alleging that huge crowds are regularly spotted in the market premises amid the COVID outbreak. They feared that the virus would spread rapidly if the market was not closed immediately.
Therefore, they demanded that the market be shut down for the next 7 days.
