Siliguri, 30th August: The Siliguri Yuba Jyoti Sangha commenced its preparations for Durga Puja (Durgotsava) with the traditional ritual of ‘Khutti Puja’ a month ahead of the autumnal festival. With the preparations this year, Yuba Jyoti Sangha will be conducting its 40th year of celebrating Durga Puja.
On Wednesday, the ‘Khutti Puja’ was held on the grounds of Yuba Jyoti Sangh, to mark the beginning of constructing the mandap to house the deity. The prime theme of the mandap is associated with the lyrical “Sahaj Sure Agomonir Gane, Mayer Kache Fera Matir Tane”, as stated by the members of the committee.
