Siliguri, 21st June: A 26-year-old woman from Siliguri lost her life, while her two-year-old son sustained critical injuries in a tragic bus accident near Maynaguri on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Pampa Saha, a resident of the Mazdoor Colony area under Ward No. 28 of Siliguri. According to family members, she was travelling with her parents and her young son to her maternal grandmother’s house in Mathabhanga when the accident occurred.
Following the crash, all the injured passengers were rushed to Jalpaiguri Super Specialty Hospital. Doctors declared Pampa Saha dead upon arrival. Her two-year-old son, who suffered serious injuries in the accident, has been admitted to the ICU and remains under treatment.
Hospital sources said that although Pampa’s parents were also injured in the mishap, their condition is not critical.
The news of the tragedy cast a shadow of grief over the Mazdoor Colony area, where neighbours and residents mourned the untimely death of the young woman.
Local BJP leaders visited the bereaved family after learning about the incident and assured them of their support during this difficult time.
BJP sources stated that the matter has also been brought to the attention of Siliguri MLA and State Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh. Party workers have pledged to stand by the family and extend all possible assistance.
