Siliguri under strict police surveillance amid lockdown

Siliguri, 24th July: In light of the growing number of coronavirus cases across the city, a complete lockdown has been imposed in all 47 wards of Siliguri Municipal Corporation.

Although the first day of Bengal’s ‘2-days a week’ lockdown was a huge success, several people could be seen roaming around the streets, this morning. Such a situation definitely raises questions regarding the lack of awareness among the citizens.

Meanwhile, strict monitoring is being kept by the police in various parts of the city since Friday morning. The Junction Traffic Guard and the Pradhan Nagar Police, on Friday morning, launched several operations and detained many e-rickshaws (Toto), rickshaws and motorcycles.
