Phansidewa, 29th July: The Special Task Force (STF) seized 305 grams of brown sugar worth lakhs of rupees after intercepting a four-wheeler on the Siliguri-Kolkata National Highway at Ghoshpukur in Phansidewa.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Noor, a resident of Jamalpur in Malda district.
According to sources, the contraband was being transported from Malda to Siliguri. Acting on suspicion, the STF intercepted the vehicle and recovered 305 grams of brown sugar during a search.
The seized narcotics were later confiscated in the presence of Ghoshpukur Outpost police. The accused is scheduled to be produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Thursday.
Police have initiated an investigation into the case.
