Siliguri, 24th March: In view of the Coronavirus outbreak, Kolkata and all other major towns and cities of West Bengal is observing a lockdown starting from March 23 to March 27, 2020. Such an initiative has been taken to prevent the further spread of the Novel Coronavirus.

However, since morning, the locals have been sighted on the streets ignoring the lockdown in Siliguri. To combat this, the police have launched operations in various areas of the city and also resorted to lathi charge to disperse people from the streets.

Medicine shops and other emergency services are open. Meanwhile, police patrolling is being conducted in Siliguri’s Mahatma Gandhi Chowk (Airview More), Junction, Hashmi Chowk and various other traffic points.
