Siliguri, 15th April: Siliguri Municipal Corporation organized a vibrant cultural event at Baghajatin Park to mark the Bengali New Year, drawing participation from civic officials, cultural groups, and residents of the city.
Mayor Goutam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, members of the Mayor-in-Council, councillors from various wards, and several prominent personalities were present during the event.
The programme began with a series of cultural performances, featuring songs, dances, and recitations by local artists, creating a festive atmosphere for attendees. As part of the observance, dignitaries also paid tribute to Rabindranath Tagore by garlanding his statue.
A grand procession was later taken out from Baghajatin Park, moving through the main streets of Siliguri before concluding in front of Surya Sen Park.
The procession witnessed enthusiastic participation from cultural organisations, students from various educational institutions, and general public, reflecting the spirit and unity of the Bengali New Year celebrations.
