Siliguri, 09th March: The traffic department of Siliguri Metropolitan Police has been taking several initiatives to resolve various traffic-related problems being faced by the common people. To remove traffic congestion in Siliguri, high-ranking police officials took to the streets today and kept a close watch on the roads. Traffic DCP Abhishek Gupta has been monitoring various traffic points for the last few days following the instructions of Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma.
DCP Abhishek Gupta along with IC Subir Dutta of Junction Traffic Guard supervised the traffic at Darjeeling More on Wednesday. The DCP said that the traffic department of the metropolitan police is working tirelessly to keep Siliguri free from traffic congestion.
“The traffic department has been taking action against modified silencers for some time now. A WhatsApp number will be introduced to attend to the problems of common people. Any problem inside the city can be reported directly to the WhatsApp number. Based on this the authorities will take action,” he added.
He further maintained that the traffic police is also taking strict action against illegal e-rickshaws. And that special surveillance is being carried out in places where traffic congestion is high.
