Siliguri, 25th January: The nation is all set to celebrate its 74th Republic Day on 26th January, this Thursday. Every state has been prepping for the occasion and along with this, preparations are also in full swing in Siliguri. The Siliguri Metropolitan Police has tightened security in the city in view of Republic Day.
On the instructions of the Commissioner of Siliguri Metropolitan, the security system has been reinforced at hotels, bus stands, and railway stations. Commissioner Akhilesh Chaturvedi along with his high-ranking officers are surveilling the city.
Police personnel are patrolling every corner during the day till late at night. Every movement in the city is monitored through CCTV cameras. In terms of security, police checking has been intensified in special Naka and border areas. Not only the ones in uniform but also the Intelligence Department, DD, SOG, IB, and DAB departments are on alert mode.
