Siliguri Metropolitan Police pays last respects to the late Constable Gobinda Sen

Siliguri, 25th September: The Siliguri Metropolitan Police paid last respects to late police constable Gobinda Sen who lost his life in a tragic road accident in Cooch Behar, on Wednesday.


It is to be noted that four people, including a police constable of the Pradhan Nagar police station, lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Cooch Behar. Two more have been injured in the incident.

Reportedly, the team was investigating on a missing complaint that had been lodged at the Pradhan Nagar police station, a few days ago. During the inquiry, they gained information regarding the whereabouts of the missing person.


Following this, the SI of Pradhan Nagar police station Biswajit Das, constable Gobinda Sen, lady constable Chandana Pal, the missing girl’s mother, and relative Pradip Debnath headed towards Cooch Behar on Wednesday. The minor girl was rescued that very day from Cooch Behar and a youth, identified as Kailash Das, was arrested on the charge of abducting her.

The entire team was apparently returning to Siliguri when the police vehicle lost control near Cooch Behar’s Ghoksadanga area and overturned into a drain.

After an autopsy was carried out on Thursday, Gobinda Sen’s body was brought to the Siliguri Police Commissionerate. Police Commissioner Tripurari Arthav, DCP East Joy Tudu, DCP West Kunwar Bhushan Singh, ACP West Chinmoy Mittal, and other police officials paid their last respects to the deceased. Following this, his body was taken at his hometown in Hemtabad in Uttar Dinajpur district.
