Siliguri, 10th February: The Bhaktinagar police arrested two people identified as Tendup Tamang and Roishan Century, residents of South Sikkim, and detained a truck laden with illegal cement.
Acting on a tip-off, last night the Bhakti Nagar police stopped a truck of Sikkim number in the Eastern Bypass area.
The driver was taken into custody for not having any valid documents and after investigation, the police found 70 sacks of illegal cement inside the truck. The police seized the truck and arrested the driver and assistant driver.
The accused were presented to the Jalpaiguri court today.
