Siliguri lockdown extended for further 07 days starting July 23

Siliguri, 21st July: In view of the skyrocketing number of COVID-19 positive cases in the city, lockdown in Siliguri has been extended for further 07 days, i.e. from July 23 to July 29th, as a containment measure.


The decision was taken during a meeting, on Tuesday, held at the Siliguri State Guest House today along with the task force officials.

While addressing the media after the meeting, Minister Goutam Deb stated that the lockdown has been extended across the city for further 7 days. Reportedly, it will remain effective until next Wednesday.


Siliguri recorded more than 300 cases over the past week. However, on the brighter side, around 200 patients were discharged from the hospital after winning the battle against the deadly virus.

Earlier a complete lockdown was imposed in the SMC area for 7 days, starting July 16.
