Siliguri, 06th August: The road connecting Jhankar More to Matigara in Siliguri has fallen into a state of disrepair, leaving local residents facing severe inconvenience. Residents have expressed anger over the lack of repair work for a long time.
According to locals, the road has become almost unfit for travel due to the absence of proper maintenance. Several stretches have developed large potholes, while rainwater accumulation has created waterlogged patches.
The poor condition of the road has caused difficulties for commuters, with school students and their parents among the worst affected. Residents alleged that due to the damaged road, parents have to spend extra time and take additional risks to safely drop their children at school.
School buses, autos, bikes and other vehicles are also facing difficulties while travelling on the damaged road every day.
A local resident said that meetings have already been held with residents and auto drivers to draw the administration’s attention to the issue. However, no effective steps have been taken so far.
Residents have demanded immediate commencement of full-scale repair work on the Jhankar More-Matigara connecting road and warned of a larger protest if their demands are not addressed.
