Siliguri CP appeals for peaceful voting, reviews poll preparedness ahead of elections

Siliguri, 17th April: Ahead of the first phase of the Assembly elections on April 23, the administration in Siliguri has intensified security measures to ensure peaceful polling. Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza appealed to the public to maintain the tradition of peaceful voting and urged people not to disrupt the democratic process.

The CP has been actively visiting different areas and inspecting polling stations across Siliguri and the Dabgram-Fulbari area to review security arrangements. During these visits, a joint review of poll preparedness was conducted with district officials from Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri, and necessary directions were issued to prevent any untoward incidents.

Authorities have also released helpline numbers to assist citizens during the voting process. The CP stated that the situation remains normal and peaceful across all areas, with strong security arrangements in place, and urged voters to turn out in large numbers on April 23 without fear or pressure.
