Siliguri, 18th March: A concerning situation prevailed in Siliguri where the city gets covered with smog over the night causing difficulties for the citizens especially in between 8 to 80 years in breathing and irritation in the eyes. Since Friday night, the administration is baffled by the presence of smog within the city and surrounding areas.
Reportedly, on Sunday night, citizens faced problems to take a walk on the streets and to be in their residences. The effect was also witnessed on Monday morning. Subsequently, it came to light that few unidentified individuals set fire in various areas of the forest under Dabgram and Sarugara Range of Baikunthapur forest and fled from the scene.
Meanwhile, the forest department are on hunt to nab the unidentified individuals involved in the act. In this regard, Ranger Shyma Prasad Chakladar of Dabgram Range under Baikunthapur division stated that previous year two individuals had executed similar incidents; however, they were arrested. At present, the officials are engaged in a search operation. In addition, the authorities are also involved fire dousing measures in various places.
Siliguri is a example of massive administrative failure.
