Siliguri-based artist Bipul Roy organizes art fair at his residence

Siliguri, 25th January: Siliguri-based artist Bipul Roy organized a painting exhibition center and an art fair at his residence as there is a lack of art colleges and art centers in the city. The art fair is said to be continued till January 29. This year will mark the first time such fair being organized at his residence.


Oil paintings, canvas paintings, and paper works made by Bipul Roy have been kept for exhibition at the said art fair. Arrangements have also been made if people are interested in buying his artwork. The price of paintings ranges from Rs 500 to Rs 30,000. It has been told that Bipul Roy’s grandfather Paramallal Roy was remarkably expert in craftsmanship which naturally inspired Bipul Roy to enter the world of art. He has been painting for 17 years and his works have reached several places in India and abroad. However, due to a lack of exhibition space in his city, the artist from North Bengal organized the exhibition and art fair at his residence in Netaji Palli under Ward No. 22, Siliguri.

The artist told that there was talk of opening an art college in North Bengal for a long time, but it has not happened so far. Many talented artists from Siliguri and North Bengal cannot study abroad due to lack of finances. In this regard, Bipul Roy said that many opportunities will open for aspiring artists and painters if an art college will be built in North Bengal, but there are no such centers and places where artists like him can showcase their works. Citing this he stated that the first time he has organized an art fair at his residence.
