Sikkim disaster: SMC to send relief materials to Kalimpong, Minister and Mayor to visit affected areas

Siliguri, 7th October: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has come forward with an initiative to send relief materials to the affected residents in Kalimpong. It has to be noted that several areas of Kalimpong have been affected by the Sikkim disaster.


According to reports, a truckload of relief material, including essential items such as milk, biscuits, and rice is being arranged to be sent from Siliguri. The relief materials are likely to be handed over to Kalimpong District Magistrate by Sunday or Monday.

On Saturday, State Minister Arup Biswas, Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb, and Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar will be leaving for Darjeeling. During the visit, they will hold talks with GTA Supremo Anit Thapa. Subsequently, they will visit the affected areas in Kalimpong and speak to the locals on Sunday.
