Siliguri, 24th March: After the video of an explosion on the Sevoke Coronation Bridge surfaced on Thursday, several people and social organizations voiced their concerns. Reportedly, amid the shooting of a web series scene at the bridge, a truck, set on fire, exploded and sent huge clouds of black smoke billowing into the air as flames engulfed the entire vehicle.
Once the video went viral on social media, netizens highly condemned it and questioned how the makers of the web series were allowed to shoot such a dangerous scene on the already deteriorating Sevoke Coronation Bridge. It is to be noted, Sevoke’s Coronation Bridge connects the Northeast with the rest of India. Transportation of essentials and movement of security forces are also dependent on this bridge. Due to its age and poor upkeep, people fear that the incident could have completely cut off the communication between Siliguri and Dooars.
Meanwhile, the Darjeeling and Kalimpong district police jumped into action and are investigating the matter. According to administrative and police sources, permission was not sought for the shooting of the scene. Currently, the makers of the web series are being interrogated.
