Security to be tightened in Siliguri from Holi to Shab-e-Barat: Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma

Siliguri, 17th March: The Siliguri Metropolitan Police are preparing the city’s security arrangements on a war footing ahead of the festival of Holi. The security system will be tightened for three consecutive days starting from Holika Dahan to Shab-e-Barat. 


Speaking to our correspondent, Siliguri Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma wished the citizens on the occasion of the festival of colors. He maintained that from Holika Dahan to Shab-e-Barat, strict security arrangements have been arranged across the city. 

“There will be tight police security in the city day and night for three days. Police will be deployed in large numbers on the road to avoid any untoward incident during the festival. The police will especially keep a special watch on the sensitive area,” the Commissioner added.


Sharma further added that for three days, the traffic department will run an anti-drink-driving campaign so that there is no disturbance in the festive atmosphere. Also, for the safety of women, the SMP’s Winners’ team will be on high alert during the festival. Apart from this, the city will be monitored through CCTV cameras and area surveillance.
