Siliguri, 01st January: An atmosphere of celebrations and happiness engulfed the eve of 31st December across the city of Siliguri to welcome the new year. A huge crowd of people were seen at the Airview More on the eve of the new year. While on the other hand, parties went on till late at night in several pubs and bars in the city. The Siliguri Metropolitan Police were deployed to ensure the security of the city till late at night so that no untoward incident or accident takes place in the festive atmosphere.
On new year’s eve, the IC and the Women’s Winners Safety Squad of Bhakti Nagar police station checked the security arrangements at Planet Mall located on Sevoke Road. At the same time, a special watch was also kept to check if the instructions were followed following the recent ban on hookah. During the same checking, the IC of Bhakti Nagar police station directed the pub and bar management to be alert to avoid any ruckus and also to close the pub and bar at the stipulated time.
At the same time, the Women’s Winners Safety Squad of Siliguri Metropolitan Police was also present on the streets till late at night to ensure women’s safety during the celebrations. The Winners squad were also seen patrolling the entire city on scooty to keep the miscreants at bay.
