Scam under the pretext of giving job in North Bengal Medical College, four arrested

22nd September: A case of scam under the pretext of providing a job in the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital has come to the fore. In regard to the scam, the police of the Medical outpost arrested four including a father and a son. According to the information, the father has been identified as Shambhu Dutta, and the son has been identified as Shubhankar Dutta, a resident of Karandighi, Uttar Dinajpur. 


The duo had reached North Bengal Medical College and Hospital with an appointment letter for the Group D post. On reaching there, the duo met the Supervisor with the letter. On seeing the letter he got suspicious of the father-son. On checking the letter, they found the appointment letter was fake. Soon after this, the Management informed the police of the Medical outpost, and the father-son duo was arrested on the charges of forgery. In regard to the case, on thorough interrogation of the father and son, the police came to know that Sanjay Kumar Sarkar, a resident of Karandighi in Uttar Dinajpur, had taken Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand in the pretext of providing the son a job in Group D of North Bengal Medical College.

On the basis of the statement of the father-son victim of forgery, the police arrested Sanjay Kumar Sarkar from Karandighi. On the other hand, during the interrogation, the police learned two more people from Bagdogra were involved in the scam. One of them has been identified as Bablu Roy and the other who is said to be his associate was also found involved in the scam. After which the police arrested Bablu last night. However, Bablu’s accomplice has been absconding from the grip of the police. The police have started searching for him and have also discovered in the preliminary investigation that the mastermind of this fraud case is Sanjay, who is also an advocate. Today all four were produced by the police in the Siliguri court. Police have started an investigation to check if any more fraudsters are involved in the scam.
