Sara Bangla Trinamool Shikkha Bandhu Samiti protested over abrogation of salary hike notice in NBU

Siliguri, 28th February: On Wednesday, the members of Sara Bangla Trinamool Shikkha Samiti staged a sit-in protest against the abrogation of salary increment notice issued to the temporary staff of North Bengal University (NBU).

As per details gathered, the members of the organization protested in the administrative building of NBU and locked the office of finance department and demonstrated in anger.

It has to be noted that the temporary staff staged a ‘gherao’ encircling the University Vice-Chancellor during the ‘Karma Samiti’ meeting on February 18. Subsequently, the Vice-Chancellor announced a 10% salary hike of the temporary employees and Rs 57,000 to the guest professors. Reportedly, on Tuesday when the finance department refuted to pay the salary increment, the members of the organization erupted in protest.

The members alleged that the Governor has refused to sanction salary increment and even ordered action against the two leaders of the agitating temporary staff. Consequently, the workers protested on this day; however, no response was received from the university as the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar were not available.
