Siliguri, 06th December: The NJP Police nabbed a land mafia who had absconded for the past two years. Along with the arrest, the police have also recovered firearms from his possession.
The land mafia identified as Wajid Ali Sheikh is a resident of Meghlal Sarni of Haidar Para. Reportedly, several complaints of private land grabbing and scamming had been registered against him in various police stations for a long time including four cases in the NJP police station. Meanwhile, Wajid was on the run for the past two years. Finally, NJP police arrested him along with a car from Shaktigarh on Monday evening.
As per the police sources, after presenting the accused in the Jalpaiguri court today, the police will appeal to the court to keep the accused on remand for 14 days.
