Ruckus in Siliguri District Hospital as some people get COVID-19 vaccines before their turn

Siliguri, 19th April: People created a ruckus at Siliguri district hospital after they were compelled to go back home without getting vaccinated against COVID-19 despite waiting in line since morning.

They accused the district hospital of letting other people bribe or manipulate their way to the vaccine before their turn. Allegedly, the people with token numbers post 50 did not receive the vaccination, while the district hospital register states that 161 people were vaccinated today. People waiting in queues alleged that the health workers in the hospital were giving vaccines to their relatives and were also working in exchange for money.

On the other hand, when the superintendent of the district hospital, Pradeepto Bhattacharya, was questioned, he said that the ones who are complaining were not present at the spot during their turn and so the next person was vaccinated instead. The superintendent later said that he was not aware of the whole incident and assured that the ones who were left out today will get vaccinated the next day.

Meanwhile, the hospital authorities alleged that the accusers vandalised hospital properties. Meanwhile, the latter denied all allegations.
