Siliguri, 29th August: Concern continues to grow over Siliguri resident Samar Mondal, who went missing in Nepal while on a Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra. Amid the devastating natural disaster and flash floods in Nepal, there has been no information about Samar’s whereabouts so far.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari spoke to Samar’s family through a video conference and assured them that the state government would extend all possible assistance.
Following the severe natural disaster in Nepal, over 30 tourists from West Bengal have been reported missing. The state government has been maintaining contact with the families of the missing tourists and providing updates on the ongoing relief and rescue operations. As part of these efforts, the Chief Minister also spoke virtually with Samar’s family.
During the video conference, Suvendu Adhikari assured the family that every possible effort was being made to trace the missing persons and ensure their safe return. He also assured them that the state government would stand by the family during the difficult situation.
On Friday night, Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza visited Samar’s residence. ACP Robin Thapa, Bhakti Nagar Police Station IC Maheshwar Majhi and Ashighar Outpost OC Hirukanti Sarkar accompanied him.
The police officials met Samar’s family members and took detailed information about the situation. The Police Commissioner assured the family of all possible assistance from the administration and said necessary communication and efforts to trace Samar were continuing.
The family is now closely watching the ongoing relief and rescue operations in Nepal and waiting anxiously for any information about Samar.
