Rotary Club of Siliguri celebrates 55 Years of service to society

Siliguri, 09th July: The Rotary Club of Siliguri, a prominent service organization in the region, marked its 55th anniversary with a grand event held at a local venue. The club, known for its dedication to serving the community through various initiatives, showcased its achievements and welcomed new leadership for the Rotary year 2023-2024.


The highlight of the event was the outgoing speech delivered by Rtn Bhavish, the former club president, who reflected on the club’s accomplishments during his tenure. He expressed gratitude for the support of club members and the community, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in bringing positive change.

Rtn Pratik presented a comprehensive report detailing the club’s achievements and contributions over the past year. The report highlighted the Rotary Blood Centre as the club’s signature and permanent project, which has played a crucial role in saving countless lives through its blood donation drives.


Taking the reins for the upcoming Rotary year, Rtn Ajit Thakur and his new board members took an oath of office, pledging to uphold the club’s mission and serve the community with dedication. Their installation ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Ambassador Dr Deepak Vohra, special Advisor to Prime Ministers Lesotho, South Sudan, and Guinea-Bissau, as well as Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils Leh and Kargil. Ambassador Vohra offered his blessings to the new board, commending their commitment to service.

Rtn Shiv Shankar, the guest of honor, delivered a heartfelt blessing to the gathering, emphasizing the significance of Rotary’s mission and the impact it can have on society. The program was skillfully conducted by Rtn Ravi Agarwal as the Master of Ceremonies, ensuring a smooth and engaging event for all attendees.

The event saw the presence of several distinguished guests, including Past District Governors Rtn Salil Dutta and Rtn Subashish, along with representatives from various organizations and the larger Rotary family. To commemorate the occasion, the club’s editor, Rtn Sushil Dubey, launched the club’s yearly bulletin for the Rotary year 2023-2024, providing an overview of the club’s goals, projects, and initiatives for the year ahead.

The vote of thanks was given by PDG Subhasish Chatterjee, who expressed his gratitude to all attendees for their presence and support. He praised the efforts of the organizing committee and acknowledged the hard work of the club’s members in making the event a resounding success.

Rtn Arvind Soni, the Club’s Public Image Chairperson, expressed his gratitude for the media’s support in promoting the club’s activities and helping raise awareness about its service projects. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive public image to attract more members and create a lasting impact in the community.

With the conclusion of the meeting, the Rotary Club of Siliguri embarks on its 55th year of service with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
