Residents of Siliguri Ward No. 40 stage protest against poor quality ration

Siliguri, 09th May: The residents of Ward No. 40, on Saturday morning, staged a protest outside a ration shop in Pradhan More accusing the ration dealer of providing poor quality ration amid the lockdown.

Mala Roy, a local, alleged that the flour provided from the said ration shop contained plastic particles. As the news spread like wildfire, people of the area expressed outrage and started protesting.

Upon receiving the information, the Bhaktinagar police and the local councilor reached the spot shortly after and brought the situation under control.

However, the accused ration dealer Jagdish Chandra Sarkar denied all such allegations and further claimed that the people might have mistaken an essential chemical infused in the flour to be plastic.
