Rescue Home opened in Siliguri for women rescued from human trafficking racket

Siliguri, 07th November: A rescue home has been opened in Siliguri for women above the age of 18 years rescued from human trafficking racket in Siliguri and other nearby areas. The home has been opened under the aegis of the Darjeeling District Legal Aid Forum in Punjabipara, Siliguri. 
The said home will provide shelter for girls and women who have no place to live or go. The initiative of building this venture has been started due to the lack of such homes in Siliguri as some of the girls rescued have to remain in hospitals or somewhere else as they have nowhere to return. After staying in the said home for some time, the women can go back to their respective homes after the legal process and counselling. 
The home was inaugurated today in the presence of the State Women Commissioner’s chairperson Leena Gangopadhyay and Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb. Along with this, a home was also inaugurated in Bandhunagar of Jalpaiguri.
