Siliguri, 31st July: Deepak Saha, a relative of Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s Ward No. 47 Councilor, has been arrested by the police for alleged involvement in cheating through a jewelry company. He has been taken into police remand for 5 days to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. The incident has caught the attention of the political parties.
Today, the BJP Yuva Morcha organized a protest outside the Pradhan Nagar police station, demanding an impartial inquiry into the case and the swift return of money to the victims. They submitted a memorandum to the IC of the police station, urging for a fair investigation into the role of the councilor’s relative in the fraud case.
Siliguri Organizational BJP Youth President Arjit Das stated that the arrest of a relative of the councilor on cheating charges has raised serious concerns. He emphasized on a transparent investigation to determine the extent of the councilor’s involvement, if any, in the scam. He further stressed the need for the authorities to take strict action against the accused and ensure the prompt return of the victims’ money. The BJP Yuva Morcha warned that if their demands are not met, they would launch a massive agitation. They further mentioned that if necessary, they would seek the intervention of agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case.
